We will be open 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on Nov 11th at our Sherwood Park location of Nottingham Pipes & Cigars.
Remembrance Day is set aside to honor members of the armed forces. Also known as Armistice Day, it marks when armies stopped fighting World War I (on November 11, 1918 at 11am). Some 100,000 Canadian soldiers died in the First and Second World Wars.
Remembrance Day is a federal statutory holiday across most of Canada (with the exceptions of a few areas). Many countries observe a similar holiday, for example Veteran’s Day in the U.S.
Many show their support for Canadian troops by wearing poppies, flying the Canadian flag, and observing two minutes of silence at 11am to remember those that fought during the wars.
